Today I made a new bag over the course of about 2 hours. People who sew often will most likely complete this project much quicker. If you are not an experienced seamstress, the directions and diagrams are very easy to understand. I did make one minor adjustment: I topstitched around the top of the bag after the last step in the directions. Another adjustment you might think about is a closure for the top. I think a couple ribbons you can tie into a bow would be very cute, but velcro and magnetic snaps are always good too.I will definitely make another bag using this great tutorial from AllPeopleQuilt.com but I may cut the pieces twice as big!
I love the 6 pockets around the outside of the bag! I lose things in my purse all the time, and being able to put things in outside pocket saves me time and frustration looking for my cell or keys. The only issue I had was that I didn't realize how small this bag would turn out. I typically need a much bigger purse. For that reason, this bag will end up a traveling knitting bag or a gift.
Cost Breakdown
$3 for 1 yard remnant of cotton material at Hobby Lobby
$2.20 for two yards of nylon for the straps at Ben Franklin
$4 for batting from Ben Franklin
$0 for white thread since I already had it.
Total Cost: $9.20
